IOWA, the “Land Between Two Rivers”, is the location for the 29th ANNUAL 2015 DODGE BROTHERS International Meet. Ames, Iowa, home of Iowa State University, is centrally located 30 miles north of Des Moines, IA, on the original Lincoln Highway (US 30) beside I-35. Picture yourself in the rolling Iowa countryside made famous by Grant Wood (meet logo painting is “Summer in Iowa”). Tours will be on rural and/or lower speed roads.

REGISTRATION FEE includes ice cream social, four lunches, closing banquet and all entrance fees.


We will explore central Iowa’s cultural, religious and agricultural heritage through our tours:

SUNDAY: Registration, meet and greet, evening ice cream social at the hotel

MONDAY: Bus tour to the Amana Colonies, a German religious communal settlement of 7 villages that preserves the heritage of the original settlers. Most buildings are now unique shops and restaurants. Family style lunch at the Ronneburg Restaurant. The Belle Plaine Area Museum Lincoln Highway exhibit and an original Lincoln Highway gas station, Preston Corner, will be explored on the return bus trip.

TUESDAY: Driving tour to Reiman Gardens on the Iowa State campus. Box lunch at nearby park. Drive to Boone, Iowa for a 90-minute train ride on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. Total mileage: 43.

WEDNESDAY: Driving tour to Living History Farms, Urbandale, a 500-acre outdoor agricultural museum with three working farm sites covering 300 years. Lunch provided at The Machine Shed Restaurant. Proceed to Denny Albaugh Chevy Convertible Collection in Ankeny: one car of every model made. Total mileage: 94.

THURSDAY: Driving tour to Dows Historic Sites including a Burlington/Rock.Island Train Depot, Blacksmith and Wagon Museum, General store, school, home, antique mall. Catered lunch in Convention Center. Proceed to Williams to view the Hemken Auto Collection of mostly original convertibles in a historic restored building. Evening shopping excursion to downtown Ames. Total mileage: 102

FRIDAY: Tech session, ladies activities sponsored by Ames Main Street Cultural District, car show, voting, closing banquet and awards.
