Annual Meet

2017 DBC California Dreamin’ Tour
31st Annual International Dodge Brothers Club Meet
Fallbrook, Southern California
Sunday, June 18 – Thursday, June 22, 2017
Beautiful Fallbrook, in the heart of the Temecula Valley Wine Country, is the location for the 31st Annual 2017 Dodge Brothers International Meet.
Fallbrook is nestled in the rolling Foothills of North County San Diego. Nearby Temecula Valley shares the southern border of Riverside County.
This territory is rich in Native American history long before the Gold Rush and California Statehood in 1850. Now known for its rich agricultural
lands, Fallbrook is famous for its avocado groves, native live oak trees, olive trees, and plant nurseries, and claims the title of “Avocado Capital of
the World.” Temecula Valley is renown for its award-winning wine vineyards.
Come and join us and visit the hidden treasures as we explore sunny Southern California!
Our Tours include:
• Vista Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum. This is their Spring Engine Steam Up.
You will see working live steam and gas engines, old tractors, along with weaving
looms, quilting bees, clock shop, blacksmith and wheelwright demonstrations, and
more. We will drive our DB cars in the Tractor Parade at 1:00 pm.
• Visit a working Elephant Farm. Get up close and personal with the world’s largest land
animal. Learn what it takes to raise and care for elephants. You might even get to ride
one, if you dare.
• Visit Orange Empire Railway Museum where we will get to ride the old trolleys around
the railway grounds, and visit the trains in their barns and around the large property.
• Ride a steam locomotive at Bobby Babcock’s Fallbrook Estate. Tour his private antique
car collection, wagon barn, western theme buildings, and train memorabilia.
• Visit the Mission San Antonio de Pala. This is an active Native American Mission Church
and Museum that will celebrate its 200th Anniversary during our Tour. This is the only
Mission to have remained in continuous service as was originally established ministering
a native population.
• A local Award Winning Winery Tour of the vineyards, wine making operation, and wine
tasting for those who wish to whet their palate.
• Western Science Center and Dinosaur Museum. Home to a large collection of Native
American artifacts and Ice Age fossils that were unearthed at Diamond Valley Lake,
including “Max,” the largest mastodon found in the western United States, and “Xena,”
a Columbian mammoth.
• And More to follow!

Important New Information
About the 2017 Annual Meet
Please note that the cut-off date for early registration is May 19.
The Annual Meet is being held at beautiful Pala Mesa Resort in
Fallbrook, CA. This Resort generally caters to golfers and weddings.
As June is a popular wedding month, the weekends are heavily
booked, so we are starting our Meet on Sunday to avoid higher weekend
rates. Our first driving tour is Sunday, June 18 to the Vista Antique
Gas and Steam Engine Museum for their Spring Steam Up. We can
leave our modern vehicles and trailers at the Resort prior to hotel
check in, then drive the old cars to tour Vista, and come back and
do check in and registration at the Resort after 4 PM on Sunday. If you plan
to stay at the Resort before Sunday, you need to make reservations extra
early to be assured of a room. (Note that room rates will be higher than our
special DBC Meet rates.)
After the Meet ends on Thursday night, June 22, the Leuers will be opening
up their Wild West Town and WWI Supply Depot in Riverside, CA on
Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24 for those who would like to visit. You
can come by for a quick stop or stay Friday night. Motorhome parking is
available, or stay at a local hotel in Riverside. Our property is a half-hour
drive from the Ontario Airport. The DBC members and guests
have been invited to a special private tour of Stan Lucas’s car
collection (owner of Lucas Tires) in Long Beach on Saturday,
June 24. We will be organizing modern travel arrangements for
this post-Meet tour.
For those who are planning an extended stay in CA, there are
major attractions in the area to visit, such as: San Diego Zoo, San
Diego Wild Animal Park, Sea World in San Diego, Disneyland in
Anaheim, Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, the Peterson Car
Museum in Los Angeles, and the Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar,
CA. You may want to consider setting aside some extra time to
take advantage of all the activities that southern CA has to offer.
Trailer parking before and after the meet will be available in
the Fallbrook and Riverside areas for those who wish to visit the
attractions in southern California without the trailer hassle.
