Invite from the Detroit Yacht Club
Posted by dbcadmin on: Wednesday 26 May @ 22:56:23 |
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am the volunteer Chairman of the car portion of the 26th annual Father’s Day Antique Car and Classic Boat Show held at the Detroit Yacht Club. The date is June 20, 2010 from 9;30am to 3;00pm.
I would like to invite your members from the areas around Detroit to attend our fine show. Last year we had cars from a 1913 Ford Model T to a 1973 Dodge Charger and everything in between. This is not a Concours-type show. It is a place for folks to simply display their pride & joy and enjoy seeing vehicles of other’s and the exciting antique boats as well.
Attached is information about the show and the registration form that I need for each car so that I can plan the spacing in the limited grounds that I have available.
Thanks in advance for distributing this message to your members.
Happy motoring.

Passing of Robert Pershing Blackledge
Posted by dbcadmin on: Thursday 13 May @ 12:02:35 |
Dear DBC brothers and sisters,
Last Thursday, May 6 we lost long time DBC member, Robert Pershing Blackledge, # 899 (probably joined in our 2nd year). He would have been 92 later this month. Bob grew up and lived his whole life on a farm in Laingsburg, Michigan. He was also active in the local school system, a tradition continued by his son, Dean, and other family members.
Albeit quietly, he actively attended our international meets from the beginning as well as our DBC participation in the Macungie, PA Das Awkscht Feschts every August and our October Hershey membership meetings. He was also a Dodge Main Region member. Not only did he attend these DBC events but he brought one of his four DBs. His wife, Edith, came with him until her death and then son, Dean and family. Dean served as president as well as an active meet committee member of many international meets and chair of the '04 meet in Massachusetts. Bob was awarded the John and Horace Dodge spirit award at our October 2001 Hershey membership meeting.
Bob proudly owned several DBs. He was particularly fond on his '25 screenside and '26 Sport Roadster.
You can send sympathy messages to Dean Blackledge 11885 Reynolds Rd., Hanover, MI 49241.
Flowers have been sent on behalf of The Dodge Brothers Club.
If any of you have any DB Club activity or DB vehicle photos to share, please send them to:

This is your chance to donate to the US Military ‘hearts & minds’ mission to Iraq. This
project is sponsored By The international Dodge Brothers Club with the help of the
Automotive Heritage Museum, Kokomo Indiana and Button Motors.
This event is being held in conjunction with the Dodge Brothers Club’s 2008 national
meet, which this year will be held in Kokomo.
Between June 30-July 5, 2008, you are invited to donate school supplies (such as crayons,
paper, note pads); personal hygiene items (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, bandaids);
and any kid-type stuff (such as toys, trinkets, soccer balls). These will be shipped to
the U.S. Army Essential Services Team working in Babil, south of the Baghdad airport.
Anything that you think might help these kids’ and their folks’ daily lives easier. These
people are very poor and lack basic services we all take for granted. This is our chance to
show the people of Iraq that we care!!

New Classified Ad Page
Posted by dbcadmin on: Tuesday 18 September @ 19:09:47 |
Well this is good news and bad. I have been working on setting up a new classified Ad Page which I feel is easy to use and has more feature than the old one. You will now be able to manage your Ads easier, easily deleting them if no longer needed, modifying after you have posted one, changing the duration time, adding pictures. You can set the home page to view the most recently posted Ads....etc. Bads New - As this page uses a differnet encryption method than the other page for passwords you will have to register again on this page to be able to post Ads. Any question please ask them here and I'll reply.
Thanks Stephen

Invitation From Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance
Posted by dbcadmin on: Tuesday 17 April @ 08:46:13 |
The Dodge Brothers Club Is Invited to Enjoy Preferred-Club Parking at the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance, Sunday, August 5, 2007!
Dear DBC Representative:
We are extending a special offer to clubs to participate in the 29th annual Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance. This is on the property and adjacent to the last home built by John Dodge! Details include:
Preferred Club-only parking for all of your club members who wish to participate with club vehicles. You will all park together very close to the Concours d’Elegance, and we will provide signage identifying your club to the general public. We will allow you to purchase tickets in advance at a special car club only rate of $20/person, including parking and Program Book. General Admission to the Concours will be $25/person. We ask that you send payment for a minimum of 10 tickets and also indicate the number of club parking spaces you will need by no later than June 15, 2007. As there has already been a large demand for preferred parking close to the Concours d’Elegance, this will insure that your club will have a great location. Because of Oakland University regulations, your individual club will not be allowed to sell food or merchandise. Your club certainly may bring food and non-alcoholic beverages for consumption within your preferred Club parking area. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on Oakland University property. We hope you have a great tailgate party! It is our intent to appropriately provide a pleasant environment for your club, so that your members can enjoy a great day at one of the grandest, largest Concours d’Elegance in North America. Your members will be able to go back and forth from the Concours to your Preferred Club parking area. Your club will get exposure from the general public, many of whom will be walking by your club parking area!
If you have any questions, please contact our committee members:
Bram Over, bramover@yahoo.com
Jon Block, jwblock@hedev.com
This special offer will make it possible for your club members to see 300 of the most stunning automobiles and motorcycles in the world, at a discounted price, all for the preservation of Meadow Brook Hall! We hope that you can commit to the Concours d’Elegance, place it on your calendar of events, and have a great day with your club!
Sincerely,
Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance

Concours d'Elegance at BeaveRun 9/9 & 9/10 2005 Posted by dbcadmin on: Sunday 24 July @ 18:28:56 |
Anonymous writes"CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE AT BEAVERUN
Big Beaver Borough – May 26, 2005
The inaugural Concours d’Elegance at BeaveRun MotorSports Complex has been scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2005. The Concours d’Elegance will take place at the same time as the Beaver County Cruise at BeaveRun MotorSports ComPlex in Wampum, PA. Both events will benefit the children’s facility at the Medical Center, Beaver.
The Concours festivities will begin on Friday, September 9th with a road tour of western Pennsylvania in the morning and the Moving Moments Preview Reception on Friday evening.
Additional events on September 10th include Viper Days Races, the Beaver County Cruise with hundreds of cruise cars, live entertainment by Pure Gold, the Altered Gas - Hot Rod Circus, karting races, a sports car championship, acceleration runs and will conclude with fireworks by Starfire. The Concours will be promoted by Hahn & Woodward Auto Restoration as well as Altered Gas Productions, LLC, and BeaveRun MotorSports Complex.
“We are thrilled to host this new charity event,” reported Tim Silbaugh, president of the motorsports complex. “BeaveRun was built to appeal to all automotive enthusiasts and our new display area provides a great venue for car displays. BeaveRun is the place to be on September 10th if you enjoy cars or motorsports. The variety of events at BeaveRun on that day will truly be astounding.”
Bill Hahn, of Hahn & Woodward Auto Restoration added, “The charity component is important to us. We enjoy restoring cars and showing them. Being able to help children get good medical care makes it all that much better.”
“The Concours is an exciting complement to the Hot Rod Circus. We are happy to be on the ground floor of this new festival in western Pennsylvania,” remarked Michael Schindel, of Altered Gas Productions, LLC.
Participation in the Concours d’Elegance at BeaveRun will be by invitation only. BeaveRun is located in Big Beaver Borough on State Route 18, two miles north of Exit 13 on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Travel time from downtown Pittsburgh is about 45 minutes. For further information, call BeaveRun at 724.535.1000, or visit http://www.beaverun.com.

FMAS 2nd Annual Cruisin' For Critters - Saturday, August 20, 2005
Posted by dbcadmin on: Sunday 24 July @ 18:19:09 |
On Saturday, August 20, 2005, the Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter (FMAS) will hold their 2nd Annual "Cruisin' For Critters" fundraiser. Registration will begin at the Tri-Town Ice Arena, located at 311 West River Road, Hooksett, NH at 8:30 a.m. with free coffee and breakfast treats. The tax-deductible registration fee is $25.00 per vehicle and $5.00 per passenger. (Group rates are available upon request.)
Participants can also help raise funds by collecting pledges from friends, relatives, co-workers, and even local merchants prior to the event and bringing them when you register for the ride. We encourage you to sign up the most pledges possible. Those participants raising $100.00 or more will get “free admission” to the 2nd Annual “Cruisin’ For Critters” fundraiser and prizes will be awarded for the most pledges collected. Pledge forms can be picked up at the shelter located at 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH or you can request one by email at FMASFundraising@Yahoo.com.
At 10:00 a.m. the convoy, which has expanded this year to include all makes and models of trucks, motorcycles and cars, will depart from Tri-Town Ice Arena on a ride through some of the area’s most beautiful summer scenery. This way family, along with their children and their pets, can enjoy participating in raising funds that will provide care for Manchester’s homeless and neglected animals.
At the noon-time stop, The Village Trestle in Goffstown, NH will be serving an exquisite luncheon buffet for only $5.00 per person (beverages not included). Enjoy a relaxing meal with your family and friends as your pet will be cared for compliments of Spotlight Pet Sitting, LLC. After lunch, the excursion continues until later that afternoon when the ride ends at the Manchester Animal Shelter at 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH. There, you will be able to tour the facility, meet our wonderful staff and many dedicated volunteers, as well as interact with the many animals available for adoption.
All proceeds from "Cruisin' For Critters" will benefit the Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter. Not only do our supporters get to enjoy a relaxing ride and possibly go home with a raffle gift or two, but they will have the satisfaction of knowing they helped support the animals.
For more information, contact Laurie Plumley, FMAS Fundraising Coordinator at the FMAS Shelter (603) 628-3544 or visit our website at: http://www.manchesteranimalshelter.org. Hope to see you there!!!!!!!!!

1935 1/2 ton early cab express truck Posted by dbcadmin on: Friday 18 June @ 13:46:01 |
Anonymous writes"A dream come true!
This is a serendipitous story about finding your long lost collectable vehicle. My story begins in 1965 at the tender age of just fifteen years. My best friend and i would walk to highschool every day and pass by the local produce store where we would admire the 1935 Dodge express truck with suicide doors. This truck was used for small deliveries and the owners personal transportation.I would always tell my friend how someday, somehow i would own a truck like this. Both my friend and i went through drivers' training course in highschool, grew up,got careers, but never forgot about the little express truck.
A few years later i would spot a truck like this behind an electric motor repair shop where i would bring in electric tools for repair and befriended the owner. As a building contractor using lots of power tools this friend was visited often for the next twenty years.Every time that i would come in to his shop i would ask the same question,"when are you going to restore that truck?"He would respond by saying,"Oh i'm going to restore it when i retire someday"I would always rib him,"Sure, when pigs fly! Please give me the first offer to buy ,if you decide to sell"He would always tell me that if he sold that i would be the first inline.I never kept my hopes up since the truck was stored in a very visible spot behind his shop. There must have been alot of anxious buyers standing in line!I drove by in shock one day to discover that the truck was gone and nowhere to be seen. This truck was a town fixture being parked there for twenty years.I immediately called him from my cell phone and inquired why "my truck" had disappeared from his backlot! He laughed all the while telling me that he had trailered it to his home and that if i still was interested in buying it that i could come over next weekend and make an offer. He added that he would give me a great deal.I wasn't holding my breath!I thought that i might be getting involved in a bidding war with others who were interested in this landmark truck. When i arrived no one else was there. My friend asked me to make an offer.Keep in mind that this was a rust-free California rare suicide-door truck and it is 1999.I jokingly said $600.00.He said that that is a little low.I came back with $900.00 cash and my friend said sold! What a friend!Latter that day,i was at one of my best friend's antiques shop telling him about my aquisition when he told me that he had been trying to buy this truck for the last twenty years and how dare i buy "his" truck! We both laughed and then he told me that if anyone else was going to buy it ,it just as well had been my best friend. What a great friend! He also told me the history behind the little truck.I nearly fainted when he told me that this was the produce truck that i so much wanted as a fifteen year old highschool student. He also said that the produce owners were his friends and that i should call them, because they may have the original title.I called and turns out that this little old lady answers the phone and tells me that she was rummaging through an old cigar box when she came accross the title only just two days ago. Also that her parents bought the truck when new for their grocery store and that she ended up with the truck when her husband started the produce business, then when their daughter married she gave it to her.She married,my friend, the motor shop repairman. How serendipitous is this!I have been buying some parts through Ebay for a ground up restoration.I have also bought a very nice 1933 Dodge Humpback Panel which belonged to a bakery in Southern Ca.Life is good!
Thanks for the Dodge Brothers Club support
John (humpback33) "

Information on Posting Announcements !!!!
Posted by dbcadmin on: Tuesday 28 October @ 07:22:10 |
Hi Everyone,
Lately I have been receiving request for information, or people looking for parts. I would recommend to everyone with these types of question to post them on our discussion forum. This is where these type of questions belong! Plus you will receive a lot more feedback. Many of the announcements I have received did not include an email address, so there is no way of replying to these!!! So if you have submitted an announcement of this type, and you do not see it posted here! Please post your request/question on the discussion forum.

I will be comming back to the meet from Auburn, Washington, and don't have a clue as to what to expect, least of all where to look for Dodge parts at the meet. I see we have a booth #, but are the vendors set up according to car makes, or do you have to hit them all to find what you're looking for? This is as you can tell, my first trip back. I do have tickets for the dinner Friday night, but would like to start my search on the 9th as early as possible. Thanks for whatever help you can give, and I hope this is the right place to ask for it!!!!

Last Known use of Dodge Brothers Mark Posted by dbcadmin on: Monday 25 August @ 14:02:57 |
Anonymous writes"I am currently restoring a 1939 Dodge Luxury Liner Deluxe 4 door sedan with the following chassis number: 30182131 and a body plate of:
D11 78406S. Both the Builder's Plate and the Body Plate have the
Dodge Brothers name with Division of Chrysler Motors.
Also displayed on the Builder's Plate is the DB surrounded by the star!
It may be because this was Dodge's 25th anniversary model as indicated in all the literature I have collected.
Hope this helps and I have seen a 1940 plate with no mention of the "Brothers".

1924 dodge touring Posted by dbcadmin on: Friday 27 June @ 07:47:20 |
Anonymous writes"Hi Everyone - I am a new dodge owner. I recently stumbled upon a 1924 Dodge convertible which has been stored for about 10 years. It is in near perfect condition with what appears to be every stock part on the car including a little heater for under the hood, even an original wool blanket for the back seat and a perfect convertable top. Under the seat I found all the original literature for the car with owners manuels and service manuals. The car has not been run for ten years and the owner who has had the car for over 60 years said it ran fine before he parked it. The engine cranked over easily with the crank.
I have experience restoring older English cars but I have no idea where to begin with this any thoughts or suggestion would greatly be appreciated. Will be joining the club shortly.

Looking For Info - '38
Posted by dbcadmin on: Tuesday 10 June @ 07:33:20 |
Hello, I am Lawton Posey of Charleston WV. My fondest memories of childhood was my parents' 1938 Dodge two door sedan, black, with leather upholstery on the seats, but leatherette on the door panels. It had the carpet in the trunk and also the carpet extended partly (maybe 4 inches) up the side of the doors. For a long time, I have wondered if this was a special model, since I have not seen a 38 with leather, My mom used to fix the seams with her curved needle. I'd love to find some sales literature on the 38 or some information about the series car we owned. We drove it until 1948 and missed it even afrter we got our new Dodge. Found your website through Google Lawton Posey lwposey@charter.net 304-345-1330 Charleston WV 25302

Jon Francis writes"There is a Dodge Brothers dealership still standing in downtown Gulfport, Ms. Its in the Mission Revival style, and most of the exterior of the building is still intact. The building is on 25th. Avenue about a half mile north of U.S. 90. The present use has something to do with golf carts. I've been meaning to research the building in hopes of getting its importance recognized by Mississippi Heritage Trust."

Looking for my Dad's car !!!
Posted by dbcadmin on: Monday 26 May @ 10:39:07 |
Dear Sir My father Claude Briscoe restored a 1924 Dodge Brothers Type A sedan in the 1950's In 1968 he transferred ownership I believe to a meuseum somewhere in the midwest. Claude died in 1972 so there is no way to trace from my father the source.where the car went.. The car was featured in the Exhaust Report of the Antique Automobile Club of America, Southern California Region in February 1965 (Vol 10 No 2) The magazine also contained a Dpdge Brothers ad which described the history of the car. Is there any way to find out if the automobile still exists and where it might be located. Enclosed is a picture of what the car looked like in the 1960's Click here to see The car Thanks Claudia Briscoe Hokanson 4320 Knollwood Drive Emmaus, PA 18049 610 967 3813 john-and-claudia@att.net
