I am restoring a 1929 DB DA 6. I am in the process of rearing it down to the frame. When I took off the wheels, I attempted to remove one of the break drums from the wooden wheels. All of the nuts came off very hard. When I got it off, I noticed that the threads on the studs were all screwed up. Are they designed not to come off?

Typically, all the bolt ends are peened over to keep the nuts from coming off. If one carefully files or grinds the ends before removing the nuts you MIGHT save them. Then run a tap and die on them when removed.
