Does a 1916 Dodge Brothers model 30 have cast or aluminum pistons? The motor has sat since 1983 and it is locked up. I've poured Marvel Mystery Oil in the spark plug holes and it immediately ran out two of the exhaust ports. I've been told by multiple people to break the motor free and then try and start it. I a little reluctant to do this. Any suggestions?

It could be the valves that are stuck, not the pistons.

Thanks, I'll look at that. I have not dug to deep yet.
What about if I can break it free. Should I move forward and start the motor or should I consider at a minimum a partial tear down?

That is a judgement I would make after it broke free/ Not trying to skirt here, but it would depend what I had to do. I had a frozen one, pushed to hard and broke a lifter. Be gentle.Take the side cover off, you should be able to move each valve from there. AND is the engine known to have run before sitting? It could have been broken before or seized a bearing?
