This morning I will pick up an early Dodge Bros. chassis with a type of commercial vehicle body on it. Found it in my city of Kerrville, Texas on a vacant lot and knew the realtor with property for sale. It obviously had a rear axle change over the decades to give it the ability to wear a popular available tire and wheel size and appears to have mid-30s axle with 600 x 16s.

Anyone recognize the body or who might have supplied it? It was certainly built by a commercial company as it is solidly framed in hardwood with the typical arched roof of the early times.

For the next month it will be yard art with Christmas lights. I may have to tow my '17 Winter Touring (Rex) over next to it for a photo or two.

Even came with a pair of hubcaps for those '30s wheels. Posititive ID ?

I'll have to make some photo files smaller to post more pics later today. Time to go get this !

Is there a front end portion to the frame? Can not see any in pictures.
Looks like a chassis conversion to a camping trailer.

The frame was cut off just ahead of the crossmember directly below the windshield area and yes, that created a trailer when a hitch was added. On metal pieces, including the left door, that were stored inside the body for decades there is school bus yellow paint that could well be the age of the body itself. My hunch is this was a locally built, simple "van" body and that it may have been one of the earliest "school buses" in this city which at the time would have bee a couple hundred people at most. Over time I'll seek out a local historian /photography collector to see if he can add info.

I have created the Christmas lighting display. No artistry here; just an old car nut with eccentric sense of humor I hope the neighbors will say.

The rear end and wheels appear to be 36 Plymouth or 36 DB pickup. I think both are the same, except for the hub caps of course. 36 DB car wheels are different.
