The original research I did on our 1927 / 28 DB Four Screen, back in 1987 revealed that it was, originally a WWII, US Army Surplus vehicle. I was never able to verify this fact. I would like to try and find out if this information was correct.
I was told that a Goleta, CA Rancher had purchased this truck as surplus, where it was a US Army Utility Truck. I suspected that it had come from Camp Cook, now Vandenberg AFB, in Northern Santa Barbara County. I was never able to verify this fact.
The best I could tell was that the color of this vehicle was not painted OD Green and that it was Cooley Blue and Black.
The truck was used on a Ranch in the Winchester Canyon area of Santa Barbara, until it died. It was left were it died, rusting away, until the rancher retired.
I would like to try and verify that it was, in fact, a US Army truck and where it actually was Surplus from, as well as when it was surpluses.
Is there anyone that can offer any information on how to go about researching Military Surplus vehicles.
Thanks
