Rick;
That's a revolting development no matter what the cause but I don't see how varnish in the fuel could cause the engine to seize. Nasty fuel wouldn't have any effect on the bearings and the cylinders get sprayed with oil from below.
If a piston is stuck there should be a hint of back and forth rotation on the crankshaft. If a bearing is stuck the crank would be locked rock solid. If valves are stuck it would be possible to reverse turn the crank a bit.
Removing the head might be the simplest way to investigate. I would expect some visible scoring in any cylinder that's stuck. If the pistons are somewhere other than fully up or down, pounding on them with a hardwood block that fits the cylinder might break it free but there's a risk of breaking a piston with too hard a hit.
The valves in my 24' were so stuck when I got it that I couldn't turn the crank. a 50%/50% mix of acetone and Dextron ATF freed them up in about an hour. Penetrants are poor lubricants so be sure to wash that brew out with a real lubricant if you get as lucky as I did.
