Hello again! Once again I'm unsure of what this specific part is supposed to do. Obviously this passes through the block to the other side where it mates up with the exhaust manifold, however why does it have those rectangular cutouts in it and why does it have a sleeve like that? Thanks for any help!

Mike, it sounds like you need a Book of Information, the DB owner's manual. The part you are asking about controls how much heated air gets to the carb. It can be adjusted for summer or winter use. My car does not like when I mess with it. I found a happy spot and left it alone.

The club store wouldn't happen to sell one, would they? Because yes, as far as a lot of basic functionality of this car, there are a lot of things that I feel like I'm using a best guess as to how things should operate!

Don't think the store has manuals. Myers has some reprints. AACA library can copy manuals they have. You want the closest dated manual just before your car was built to be the most accurate.
