Does anyone know what happened to the '14 DB used on the Lawrence Welk show in the '50's? I have a metal painted tray with a picture of him sitting in it. It was recently on a show filmed in 1957.

Don't know where the car went but I have that same tray. However that car is not a '14 as it says. It is really a 1917-1919 as it is a 114"wb instead of the 110"wb of the '14-'16 cars. Obvious difference is the long skirts of the front fenders that sweep forward to the front of the frame. '14-'16 didn't have those. They went rearward towards the bottom of the radiator shell. Radiator and shell are different as well, as is the position of the headlights in relation to the radiator shell. Notice the bicycle bulb horn on the steering wheel!

Dave, I bought the tray years ago and just remember it saying '14. Now I can't even find it, do you where it is? Someone else that has the plate said the same as you, the car really isn't a '14. I was pretty bored the night I watched the rerun from '57 and only got a glimps of the car as they pushed it out on stage. I didn't get a good look to verify what year it was. As you know most of the '14's in recent Dodge commercials really aren't '14's either.

Doug, I finally remembered where mine was and Dave is absolutely correct in that the car on the tray is definitely NOT a '14. The front fenders and headlights are much later. I tried several times to attach a pic. here but not smart enough, I guess.
